Sunday Service is at 10:00 a.m.

September 5 ~ Laboring for Justice,    Rev. Kowalski

Most Americans celebrate this weekend as a farewell to summer, with backyard barbecues and picnics. But this morning, Gary will ponder the history and current relevance of organized labor in the ongoing struggle for equity, with personal thoughts on the blessings and dignity of work. Rev. Holly Beaumont of New Mexico’s Inter-faith Worker Justice project will also speak briefly concerning statewide campaigns for livable wages and immigrant’s rights.

Beginning September 12 Sunday worship services will be at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  Religious Education classess will be at 11:00 a.m.

September 12 ~ Crossing the Threshold,    Rev. Kowalski

Our Homecoming Sunday sees the return of two services at 9:30 and 11:00, with the resumption of regular Sunday School for children and youth. As our congregation gathers to say “Welcome Home,” Gary will reflect on what it means to be a welcoming congregation, and the special opportunities that “threshold” moments present to extend our sense of belonging. Kids and adults are invited to bring a small container of water—representing our varied journeys and spiritual biographies—to the first portion of the service, with young people departing for classes afterward.

September 19 ~ How to Lose Control of Your Time and Life,    Rev. Kowalski

Time management experts and personal coaches offer guidance in getting organized to set priorities and achieve goals. But in the spirit of John Lennon --“Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans,” Gary offers the counterintuitive advice that many of life’s most important moments can be savored only when we learn to let go of well-laid agendas and surrender our need to be in charge.

September 26~A Hopeful Journey,    Edward Carroll

Eddy is a UUA facilitator for the "Beyond Categorical Thinking" program presented by the Ministerial Search Committee, a program designed to explore how thinking categorically about people sometimes interferes with choosing the best ministerial candidate. He will share some of his journey about coming out as a gay man and being a long-time survivor of AIDS, the assumptions made about him based on his sexual orientation, and how Unitarian Universalism has been a source of hope in his life.
