Our Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DRE) is Alice Springer
Alice has worked in education, child development and family relations for over 35 years. She started on her journey as a religious educator when she became a UU in 1982 and ten years later realized that RE was calling to her as a vocation. Prior to joining the staff of University Unitarian Church in Seattle as RE Assistant in 1992, she had done most every RE volunteer job available, including curriculum development. In 1996 she became the full time DRE at UUC and then in 1999 moved to Santa Fe, NM to become DRE at the UU Congregation of Santa Fe. In 2007, our congregation expanded its view of religious education to include the lifespan and adult religious education was added to Alice’s portfolio. Alice has a BA in Education/Child Development and Family Relations from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. She is a Credentialed Religious Educator (2004) through the UUA credentialing program and a trained Renaissance Module leader. Alice has recently served the Mountain Desert District in a volunteer position as co-leader of the MDD Lifespan Faith Development Service Area supporting congregations and religious educators across the MDD.
Beginning July 1, per our revised budget for 2009-10, I will be on a reduced schedule of 32 hours per week. In order to use this time as efficiently as possible, it seems best to schedule appointments in advance. My hours for most weeks will be as follows: Monday and Wednesdays, 9 to 4 and Thursdays, 11 to 4. Friday will usually be a day for work at home. Because of my religious education responsibilities on Sunday I regret that I cannot make appointments on that day. Please call (982-9674 ext 11) or e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) in advance to schedule appointments. Of course, I am always available for emergencies. Alice Springer, Director of Religious Education
